After the Feb. 24 episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, let’s take a look at the confirmed and expected matches for WrestleMania 39.

WWE is six days removed from their Elimination Chamber premium live event, and are now a little over a month away from their biggest show of the year — WrestleMania 39. The “showcase of the immortals” takes place on Saturday, Apr. 1 and Sunday, Apr. 2 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.

This past Monday on Raw, fans got a bit of an idea of where storylines were heading into the two-night premium live event. Well, four days later, WWE presented their weekly television show on Friday nights, SmackDown.

On Feb. 24, there are now more matches we can expect to officially be added to WrestleMania match card at some point. Let’s take a look at the confirmed matches and those that will likely be made official down the line after the latest episode of SmackDown.

WWE WrestleMania 39 match card: Confirmed matches

  • Undisputed WWE Universal Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Cody Rhodes
  • SmackDown Women’s Championship: Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Rhea Ripley
  • Raw Women’s Championship: Bianca Belair (c) vs. Asuka

Much like this past Monday on Raw, there are still only three matches confirmed for WrestleMania 39, all of which are title matches. Roman Reigns looks to hold onto his Undisputed WWE Universal championship against men’s Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes. Bianca Belair defends her Raw Women’s championship against Asuka. As for the SmackDown Women’s championship, Charlotte Flair takes on women’s Royal Rumble winner Rhea Ripley.

Expected WWE WrestleMania 39 match card additions

Let’s take a look at what matches you can expect to be added to the WrestleMania 39 card, based off what has happened since the Elimination Chamber event.

  • Intercontinental Championship: Gunther (c) vs. Drew McIntyre
  • Rey Mysterio vs. Dominik Mysterio
  • Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships: The Uso’s (Jimmy and Jey Uso) (c) vs. Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens
  • Edge vs. Finn Balor
  • Brock Lesnar vs. Omos
  • Seth Rollins vs. Logan Paul

The show opened up with Intercontinental champion Gunther and Imperium (Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci) taking on Braun Strowman, Richochet, and Madcap Moss in a six-man tag team match. During the match, Drew McIntyre stood at the top of the ramp to watch. After Gunther got the win after a powerbomb on Moss, McIntyre stared the Intercontinental champion down, before he was attacked by the Viking Raiders. But, Sheamus, Strowman, and Ricochet made the save to chase down the Viking Raiders.

Later on in the show, Rey Mysterio faced off against Karrion Kross. As Mysterio looked to get the win with the 619, but Scarlett fell over the top rope into the ring. After a pause, Rey looked to hit the 619 again, but he was blocked by his 25-year-old son, Dominick, who dared his father to hit him. Rey went back into the ring, but Kross put him in the Kross Jacket submission hold to pick up the win.

After the match, Dominik got into the ring and started taunting his father, even shoving him. Rey did get in his son’s face, but stopped himself from striking Dominik. With 10 more shows remaining, we will likely get to the point where Rey Mysterio vs. Dominik Mysterio becomes official for WrestleMania.

In the main event segment, Jimmy Uso called his brother Jey Uso to the ring to discuss what is going on with the Bloodline. After all, Jey has been away from his family’s faction ever since they attacked Sami Zayn after the main event of the show. Sure enough, Zayn went to the ring to confront Jimmy, and implored him to break away from the Bloodline, saying that Reigns is manipulating him. Jey then arrived, appearing in the stands. Jimmy attacked Zayn, signifying that he wanted to remain in the Bloodline. Jimmy called for Jey to help him, but Zayn recovered, hitting a Helluva Kick before exiting through the crowd. This story will progress in the coming days, eventually leading up to The Uso’s taking on Zayn and Kevin Owens at WrestleMania.
