Boston won each of its last three matchups against the Sixers, though Philly is feeling confident after a comeback win against the Grizzlies coming out of the All-Star break. The Celtics won their first game back too, but it required an overtime effort against the Pacers.

The Sixers have now won and covered the spread in five straight as they look to solidify their spot near the top of the Eastern Conference.

While Philly is hot, the Celtics had covered the spread in six straight prior to the four-point win against Indiana.

In this potential Eastern Conference Finals preview, which heavyweight has the edge?

Let’s check out the odds and my best bet for the huge matchup.

Celtics vs. 76ers Prediction and Pick

This is a fantastic matchup but I think the Celtics are a tad undervalued, even on the road. As Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown blossomed into perhaps the league’s best duo, Boston has owned this matchup.

In the last three meetings between these teams, Boston won by seven, nine, and 48 (!!) points. That blowout came in Philly, so the Sixers’ home-court advantage shouldn’t overwhelm the Celtics.

Philly is coming off an emotional comeback win against Memphis, and it’s difficult to maintain that intensity over a three-day stretch. Boston is 7-1 in its last eight games as road favorites and should keep that streak rolling.

As long as Boston prevents an explosion from Joel Embiid (admittedly a tall task), then the Celtics’ depth should carry Boston to victory.

Philly is a dangerous team, but Doc Rivers’ questionable rotations leave them vulnerable against a team as deep and talented as the Celtics. Until the Sixers prove they can beat Boston, I’m riding with the Celtics.
