2. Christian Gonzalez

Gonzalez is currently projected to be the third corner off the board in Round 1 behind Devon Witherspoon and Joey Porter, Jr. The former Oregon star’s speed and ability to stick with receivers on deep routes gives him a chance to emerge as the best cover guy in this draft class.

Critics of Gonzalez’s game point to his lack of physical strength as a limiting factor for him at the next level. Putting on weight should be a priority for him before Week 1 arrives, but he appears to have the right sort of frame to add weight without sacrificing quickness.

He’s a better prospect than Forbes, but he would also require more draft capital for the Eagles to acquire. The talented cornerback has a strong chance of hearing his name called in the top 20. It’s not out of the question that Gonzalez could sneak into the top 10 if he runs well during the pre-draft process.

Landing in Philadelphia would be an ideal outcome for Gonzalez. He could learn a lot from Darius Slay on how to turn his athletic gifts into production at the NFL level. The Eagles will need to fall in love with him to spend the draft capital needed to move up and beat the competition to him in Round 1.
