The Chiefs are coming off of their Super Bowl victory but they also might be looking to make a trade to pair another superstar with Patrick Mahomes.

What better way to celebrate a Super Bowl victory than by pulling off a trade that would give Patrick Mahomes a superstar wide receiver to throw to? That might be the way the Kansas City Chiefs are thinking in the 2023 offseason.

Kansas City has been mentioned as a potential Jalen Ramsey trade destination but there is now some buzz about addressing the other side of the ball. Namely, the Chiefs are being floated as not only a possible landing spot for DeAndre Hopkins in a trade but actually as one of the potential frontrunners to make a deal with the Arizona Cardinals.

NFL insider Benjamin Allbright appeared on a Phoenix radio hit during the week of the NFL Combine and said that the reigning Super Bowl champions are “the team to watch” for a DeAndre Hopkins trade.

NFL Rumors: Chiefs are team to watch for DeAndre Hopkins trade

The idea of the Chiefs trading for Hopkins comes on the same day that new Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said at the Combine in Indianapolis when asked that he was “not sure” if the wide receiver would be on the roster for the 2023 season.

And really, it’s the type of move that Kansas City could be in a position to make. For one, with JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman and more sitting as pending free agents, the wide receiver room could be thin. Moreover, the rumors of the Chiefs being a player in the Hopkins sweepstakes come a year after the team cut ties with Tyreek Hill.

The results were obviously still good for Mahomes and the offense but it was a different style of attack. Even Travis Kelce wasn’t targeted to the level that Hill, A.J. Brown, Davante Adams and many of the other superstar receivers in the league are in their given offenses. It was a much more balanced attack.

With that said, if the Chiefs have a chance to take advantage of Arizona unloading a star like Hopkins for great value in what it would cost in a trade, that becomes much more enticing. There’s nothing like having another trump card in an offense with the best quarterback in football and the best tight end as well. That’s what Hopkins could be.

It’s Combine week, which means that we’ll definitely hear a lot more like this. But if you’re wondering where DeAndre Hopkins might be traded, keep one eye fixed on Kansas City.
