Kevin Durant is getting closer to coming back but will the new Suns superstar be playing tonight, March 1 against the Hornets?

When the Phoenix Suns dropped a bomb on the NBA Trade Deadline by landing superstar forward Kevin Durant, the anticipation was immediately raised to see him on the floor. Everyone was immediately ready to see him suit up alongside Devin Booker, Chris Paul and DeAndre Ayton.

The problem? That debut with the Suns was always going to have to wait for Durant.

As it’s been nearly two months since he sprained his MCL while with the Nets, though, people are starting to wonder when Durant will take the floor. After all, the Suns are trying to make a run up the Western Conference standings leading up to the playoffs.

So on Wednesday, March 1, people are asking if Durant is ready to debut on the road against the Charlotte Hornets.

Is Kevin Durant playing tonight? Suns star set for debut vs. Hornets

It’s time. Kevin Durant will make his Suns debut on Wednesday in Charlotte. The Suns announced earlier in the week that the future Hall-of-Famer is set to take the floor barring any unforeseen setbacks.

Taking the floor for the first time with his new team against the Hornets is a smart move. For one, Charlotte is a relatively soft opponent given that they are bottom-dwelling in the Eastern Conference. That was made even truer with news that LaMelo Ball is now out for the season.

This should be a nice runway for Durant to start getting his legs back under him.

Is Kevin Durant on a minutes restriction?

Suns head coach Monty Williams has said that Durant will be on a minutes restriction upon his return to the floor. Having said that, the particulars of that are still uncertain.

When Durant suffered a similar injury with the Nets last season and missed about the same amount of time, he played more than 30 minutes per game upon his return. Williams noting a minutes restriction should indicate that he might not see the floor that much, though no hard terms have been set.

My expectation would be to see Kevin Durant play for about 25-28 minutes in his Suns debut on Wednesday night.

Next. Every NBA team's all-time starting lineup. dark
