Julio Urias

Prediction: Los Angeles Dodgers

Urias feels like a prime contract extension candidate. By all accounts, he loves being in Los Angeles. The Dodgers love him and considering that he’s only 26 and has less than 600 career innings, has plenty of mileage left on his left arm.

But Urias’ agent, Scott Boras, prefers to have his players establish their values on the free-agent market, which figures to make negotiating an extension difficult.

Still, Urias feels like a strong candidate to remain in Los Angeles long-term. He’s been a pillar to the Dodgers’ rotation the last couple seasons — he’s pitched at least 175 innings in each of the last two years — and is coming off a season in which he posted a 2.16 ERA and 166/41 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

What the eventual terms to a Urias extension look like are unknown. But as arguably the best starter on the market, and just entering his prime, the left-hander figures to land a contract well north of $100 million.
