NFL Draft rumors: 2 QBs wowing teams in interviews
By Scott Rogust
There are reportedly two quarterback prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft class who are impressing in interviews at the NFL Scouting Combine.
The NFL Scouting Combine is underway and the majority of the attention will be on the quarterback prospects. Considering how many teams are in need of a quarterback, it only makes sense that they take a look at the upcoming draft class. There are four prospects projected to go in the first round, and all may very well be off the board in the Top 10.
Quarterbacks are not scheduled to participate in drills until Saturday, March 4 at 1:00 p.m. ET. But, they are going through the interview process. As it turns out, there are two quarterbacks who are making a strong impression among teams.
Here are the two quarterback prospects that have reportedly crushed their draft interviews.
Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson reportedly impressing in interviews at NFL Combine
According to ESPN NFL Draft analyst Matt Miller, scouts have told him that Florida’s Anthony Richardson was the best quarterback interview that they’ve had this year.

"“I talked to a handful of scouts last night who had been in interviews where they had all four top quarterbacks back-to-back-to-back, every single one of them said Anthony Richardson’s the best quarterback interview they’ve had this year,” said Miller. “Some of them say he’s the best quarterback interview they would’ve had last year. He is crushing it in the interview portion.”"
Then, theScore insider Jordan Schultz reported that Alabama’s Bryce Young has been “sensational” in draft meetings. Not just that, but an executive said that Young’s football acumen is “off the charts.”
Young is considered the top quarterback prospect in the entire class, ranking over Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud, Kentuckys’ Will Levis, and Richardson. While he played at a high level in the SEC as a starting quarterback for the past two seasons, and showcased his ability to make impressive throws and extend plays, there are going to be discussions about his height and weight. Ahead of the NFL Scouting Combine, Young was listed standing at 6-foot, and weighing 194 pounds by Alabama’s football program.
As for Richardson, he is considered a quarterback that can benefit from sitting a year or so in the NFL. He has a strong arm and is quick on the run, but didn’t really put it all together during his lone season as Florida’s starting quarterback. But if he does, he could have the highest ceiling among all of the quarterback prospects.
Richardson will be participating in drills at the NFL Combine, while Young will be sitting out, focusing on team meetings.
In the Top 10, there are four teams that have an obvious need at quarterback — Houston Texans (No. 2), Indianapolis Colts (No. 4), Las Vegas Raiders (No. 7), and Carolina Panthers (No. 9). However, there are teams in the top 10 who could consider taking a quarterback, such as the Seattle Seahawks, who pick at No. 5. But, you can never rule out a team outside of the Top 10 making a trade up the board to get the quarterback they are enamored with.
It will be interesting to see how the quarterback prospect rankings change after the NFL Scouting Combine. Before the quarterbacks participate on March 4, Young and Richardson have made strong impressions during interviews.
