Jordan Poyer rumors: 5 best fits in free agency

Best fits for Jordan Poyer in free agency: 2. Houston Texans
On paper, the Houston Texans are an ideal landing spot for Poyer. He can live in Texas. There is no state income tax. There is warm weather.
There are a couple of factors that make the Texans a more logical fit for Poyer than the Cowboys. Notably, they have roughly $39.29 million in cap space. Secondly, they have a need at strong safety. Last season, starter Jonathan Owens racked up 125 combined tackles. However, he was not as effective in pass coverage. When targeted, Owens allowed a passer rating of 128.5.
There is one big looming question, though. Do the Texans want to compete this season? If they do, Poyer would be a perfect fit. He would immediately boost their playoff odds in the vulnerable AFC South.
If not, a 31-year-old All-Pro safety makes little sense. They would be better off drafting a safety who would be a better fit for their timeline.
