Police investigating Jackson Mahomes sexual assault accusation at KC area bar

Police are investigating Jackson Mahomes, the 22-year-old brother of Patrick Mahomes, for an incident that occured at a Kansas City area bar.

According to the KC Star, police are investigating Jackson Mahomes, the brother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, for allegations of assault at a restaurant in Overland Park, Kansas.

Per to the Star’s report, Mahomes allegedly pushed a 19-year-old waiter more than once and later forcibly kissed a 40-year-old woman Aspen Vaughn, who is also the owner of the establishment. Vaughn told the Star that the advances were unwanted, and she believed he was intoxicated. She claims the forcible kissing occurred more than once, which video of the event that has surfaced online shows.

According to the Star article, the incident occurred last Saturday when Mahomes and his friends were at the restaurant. They were congregating in the employee office in the basement, and Vaughn smelled marijuana coming from the room.

The waiter attempted to enter the office to get his water bottle, which was when Mahomes shoved him.

When Vaughn later attempted to address the shoving incident, that’s when Mahomes forcibly kissed her, according to Vaughn.

The owner told the Star that Mahomes is a frequent visitor of the establishment and that, “one out of four times he comes in, it’s not a good experience.”

Mahomes is friends with Vaughn’s stepdaughter who works at the restaurant.

Police, attorney release statements on Jackson Mahomes assault allegations

The police released a statement according to the Star which reads as follows:

"“The Police Department is aware of an incident that occurred on Feb. 25, 2023, at a business near 151st and Metcalf. The department is still investigating. Releasing any additional information would be inappropriate at this time. Anyone with information should contact the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.”"

Also via the Star, Mahomes’s attorney released a statement denying wrongdoing:

"“Jackson has done nothing wrong,” Brandan Davies said. “Our investigation has revealed substantial evidence refuting the claims of Jackson’s accuser including the statements of several witnesses. We have reached out to law enforcement to provide the fruit of our investigation so that they may have a complete picture of the matter.”"

The incident occurred at Aspens Restaurant and Lounge in Overland Park, Kansas.

Why is Jackson Mahomes assault story coming out now?

Vaughn went to the Kansas City Star because she was worried police would not pursue her sexual assault accusation since Mahomes is a high-profile individual. As of now, a formal police report has not been filed and as such, Mahomes has not been charged.

Jackson Mahomes history of controversial incidents

Jackson Mahomes has been involved in his fair share of controversial incidents. Some are relatively innocuous, like photobombing his brother’s interviews.

Others are more serious, like dancing on a Sean Taylor logo, or pouring water on Ravens fans.

He has come under fire for his behavior in Kansas City-area establishments over the years as well, though nothing of this magnitude with police involvement has occurred previously.
