1. Top Free Agent Targets For The Giants – LB Tremaine Edmunds

One area of the roster that the Giants have neglected for years is the linebacker position. Several different regimes haven’t made adding a top linebacker their priority, opting instead to fill the position with mid-round draft picks and veteran castoffs.

Schoen should look to buck this trend by making a splash with Edmunds, a player he is very familiar with from his years in Buffalo. Edmunds made an immediate impact upon his arrival in the NFL as the Bills’ first-round pick in 2018, becoming an immediate starter and adding a pair of Pro Bowl appearances in 2019 and 2020.

The Giants could use an impact player on the second level of their defense as their current inside linebacking group of Carter Coughlin, Micah McFadden and Cam Brown is very young. It isn’t conventional wisdom in the NFL to pay big money to an off-ball linebacker but Edmunds is worth it as a tackling machine that can play all three downs.

Adding a guy like Edmunds makes sense since he won’t turn 25 until May, allowing the Giants to pay for his prime years as opposed to his decline. If Schoen opts to make a splash this offseason it would make a ton of sense for that to come in the form of Edmunds.
