7. Cooper Rush, QB

As the starting quarterback, Rush led the Cowboys to a 4-1 record, including wins over the Cincinnati Bengals and New York Giants.

Does that make Rush a top-15 quarterback? No.

Regardless, Rush proved that he could lead the team to victories. Quarterback is the most important position in the sport, and Dak Prescott missed extended periods of time in two out of the last three seasons.

As the starter, Rush threw for 956 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Rush should receive plenty of interest on the open market, but retaining him would be a nice win for the Cowboys.

Rush is one of the best backup quarterbacks in the league. If Prescott misses time this season, the Cowboys can be confident that they will not drop out of the playoff race with Rush under center.

If not, the front office will be forced to seek out another backup quarterback, and historically, that has ended in mixed results.
