The Alabama Crimson Tide are the first overall seed in the NCAA Tournament this year. That’s a big deal.

For the first time ever in program history, Alabama was confirmed as the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament on Selection Sunday.

As beautiful as it is to see history getting made, most college basketball fans aren’t surprised by this news. Ever since Bama was ranked first in the top 16 seed reveal back in mid-February, the Crimson Tide haven’t given viewers any reason to believe they would drop down from the coveted No. 1 position.

Alabama only lost once in that span in a season finale at Texas A&M, and they avenged that defeat with an 82-63 demolishment of Texas in the 2023 SEC Tournament championship.

Bama’s been considered the No. 1 seed for several weeks now, and it’s finally time to get their March Madness run underway.

Can a program marred by the scandal of capital murder charges escape the mud and rise victorious as the 2023 NCAA Tournament champions?

Let’s take a look at when Alabama will play next.

When does Alabama play again? 2023 March Madness schedule

During Selection Sunday, it was revealed that Alabama was the No. 1 overall seed to play in the South Region. The Crimson Tide rolled through their first two matchups in March Madness, beating Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and then Maryland, both wins coming handily.

In the Sweet 16, Alabama plays on Friday, March 24 with a 6:30 p.m. ET tip time against 5-seed San Diego State. The game will be broadcast on TBS. Should the Crimson Tide win, they will face the winner of 15-seed Princeton and 6-seed Creighton.

There’s little doubt that the Crimson Tide, the marquee team of this year’s March Madness, deserves their top seed after winning SEC regular-season and tournament titles and proudly boasting the SEC Player of the Year, Brandon Miller.

Miller and fourth-year head coach Nate Oats are prepared to embark on the program’s 23rd overall NCAA Tournament run in 2023.
