NFL rumors: Jerry Jones is alive and well, and the Dallas Cowboys are on the board in NFL free agency.

The Dallas Cowboys don’t have an easy task as it pertains to adding to the team via free agency. After giving Tony Pollard the franchise tag, Dallas is short on cap room until they restructure the contracts of some veterans to make room. Ezekiel Elliott is a prime candidate.

Dallas re-signed safety Donovan Wilson on Tuesday morning. Wilson can be a very solid safety when healthy, and he signed a team-friendly deal to stay with the Cowboys. Dallas needed to act fast after losing out on several of their own so far this offseason.

Per ESPN, “Wilson has shown to be a valuable part of Dan Quinn’s defense and was a priority for the Cowboys to keep as free agency began. So far the Cowboys have lost left guard Connor McGovern (Buffalo Bills) and linebacker Luke Gifford (Tennessee Titans). Linebacker Leighton Vander Esch, the team’s second-leading tackler in 2022, is drawing interest as well.”

NFL rumors: Where do the Cowboys go from here?

Jerry Jones and Dallas need to acquire a wide receiver to pair with CeeDee Lamb. Michael Gallup took a paycut, but he should not be the No. 2 threat.

Odell Beckham Jr. would be a great fit if he were available at a lower price tag. The Denver Broncos are shopping three of their wide receivers — Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton and KJ Hamler — if the Cowboys are interested.

Noah Brown signed with the in-state Houston Texans, too make matters worse. The Cowboys need to act fast if they’re to provide Prescott with more weaponry.
