Sam Burns has recently dominated the Valspar Championship so much that you might as well call him the snake charmer at the Copperhead Course. Burns is the back-to-back defending champion at this event and he’ll be looking for the elusive three-peat at Innisbrook Golf Resort this week for the 2023 Valspar Championship.

Despite the huge tournaments preceding this week, the field is still relatively solid this week and we should see some good action at the Valspar Championship. Plus, the last time we talked about a weaker field, we got a stellar finish at the Honda Classic, so let’s cue that up again this week at the Valspar.

Valspar Championship tee times, field 2023

After seeing the API and THE PLAYERS, the Valspar Championship field might not look like too much but it’s still a solid field heading to Innisbrook this week. There are 10 of the Top 50 players in the world in the field, including seven in the Top 30. That group is headlined by Justin Thomas, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Jordan Spieth, Tommy Fleetwood, Keegan Bradley, Justin Rose and the aforementioned defending champ, Sam Burns.

Here’s a look at the initial field list that was submitted on Friday, March 10.

Since the time of that release, the following players have withdrawn from the field: Callum Tarren, Taylor Montgomery, Anders Albertson, and Aaron Rai. Additionally, the following players have been added by qualification, alternate replacement, or sponsor’s exemption: Charley Hoffman, Nick Gabrelcik, Ryan Gerard, Dylan Wu, Martin Trainer, Hank Lebioda, Cameron Percy, Alex Chiarella, Danny Guise, Peter Knade, Chris Nido.

Valspar Championship tee times have not yet been made available. We will update this space accordingly when they are released.

Valspar Championship purse for 2023

The Valspar Championship purse this year is up $300K from last year with the total prize money set at $8.1 million. While not an elevated event with the huge purse that we often see, the winner will still take home $1.458 million this week at Innisbrook while the runner-up will get just short of $1 million in prize money, netting $882,900 for the second-place finish this week.
