Cowboys rumors: Draft Kendre Miller to replace Ezekiel Elliott

Dallas will most likely select a running back in the NFL Draft, especially if they cut Elliott. The Cowboys offense is built on the ground game, especially now that Mike McCarthy is taking over the play-calling duties.

While Kendre Miller did play in the Big 12, which isn’t exactly known for its stout defenses, the TCU product ran for nearly 1,400 yards and 17 touchdowns last season. His yards per carry was up around six, which is much improved from Elliott’s 3.9. Obviously, the NFL will prove tougher than college for Miller, and there’s a learning curve. But given the expectations would be low heading into Dallas as a backup rather than with the weight of the world on his shoulders at TCU, it could benefit the Cowboys to take this local product.

"“He’s got size, can really work as a complete back for the Cowboys. That’s somebody that they definitely have interest in. In fact, I was told, while they didn’t meet at the combine with him, they’ve got a private workout scheduled with him over the next several weeks,” Bobby Belt reported on 105.3 The Fan."

A player like Pollard can break a long run on just about any carry, but he needs help between the tackles. That’s where a player like Miller comes in. Getting him on a rookie deal almost feels unfair, and would free up some much-needed cap space for Dallas to improve in other areas.
