We start with the World Baseball Classic and some of the news surrounding Team Canada and one of its leading players, Freddie Freeman of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
During Canada’s 5-0 win over Colombia on Tuesday, Freddie Freeman went 0-for-2 before being replaced in the bottom of the fourth inning after suffering tightness in his hamstring. Freeman reportedly injured his hamstring in the third inning but stayed in for one more frame.
MLB news: Freddie Freeman injury pushes him out of WBC Pool C play
The injury will keep Freeman out of Wednesday’s pivotal pool game against Mexico, with the Canadians needing a win to earn a spot in the World Baseball Classic quarterfinals in Miami.
There is no guarantee that Freeman will be available for Canada should the team advance out of Pool C, leaving exactly how the Dodgers and Canada will proceed with Freeman’s usage in the tournament up in the air.
