The Masters making a wildly unpopular call for 2023 tournament
The Masters is full of traditions not just for the players, but for the patrons at Augusta National Golf Club. Unfortunately, one won’t be there in 2023.
When you think of The Masters, there are many things that come to mind because the major championship is drenched in traditions. The winner slips on the Green Jacket from the previous year’s winner, it’s always held in early April so the azaleas in Georgia at Augusta National Golf Club are blooming, and so much more.
But for the patrons in attendance at the tournament, there are just as many traditions. One of the biggest and most celebrated might surprise you, though: the concessions.
Extremely low-priced, the concessions are famous for the pimento cheese sandwiches and the ice cream sandwiches. In typical Georgia fashion, the most popular desert item is the peach ice cream sandwich. But fans were up in arms after it wasn’t on the menu in 2022.
And now there’s bad news for The Masters in 2023 in that regard as well.
The Masters rumors: Peach ice cream sandwiches a no-show again in 2023
A Twitter user with seeming photographic evidence said that The Masters, as it did last year, is having trouble with the supply chain and the peach production from farmers this year. Subsequently, there will be no peach ice cream sandwiches — however, they may be replaced with berry ice cream sandwiches based on the tease from this insider.
That’s certainly a bummer for anyone getting boots on the ground at Augusta.
Having said that, if they are replacing it with a berry version of the same sweet treat, that’s a fair enough compromise. And let’s be honest, just stepping foot onto some of golf’s hallowed ground to watch the best in the world compete on the course is more than enough to make up for not having a peach ice cream sandwich.
