The New York Jets traded away wide receiver Elijah Moore to the Cleveland Browns, and it may have opened the door for a big-time player to replace him.

The New York Jets are getting that much closer to acquire Aaron Rodgers to be their new starting quarterback. All that’s needed is for the team and the Green Bay Packers to agree to terms on a trade. As they wait, they have been making some moves on the wide receiver market. After bringing in former Packers wide receiver Allen Lazard, they also signed Mecole Hardman of the Kansas City Chiefs to a one-year contract. Shortly thereafter, the Jets traded Elijah Moore to the Cleveland Browns for a 2023 second-round pick.

As it turns out, moving on from Moore may have opened the door for a big-time replacement.

According to SNY’s Connor Hughes, the Jets’ interest in free agent Odell Beckham Jr. is described as “very real.” Hughes also notes that Beckham and Rodgers are “close” and discussed potentially playing in New York together.

Jets reportedly have ‘very real’ interest in Odell Beckham Jr.

Prior to Rodgers announcing his intent to play for the Jets in 2023, an ESPN report indicated that he had Beckham on his “wish list” of players for the team to add.

Beckham is recovered from a torn ACL he suffered in Super Bowl 56 as a member of the Los Angeles Rams. During the 2022 season, Beckham flirted with the idea of signing with a team that campaign, meeting with the Buffalo Bills, New York Giants, and Dallas Cowboys. But nothing came of it, and he remained unsigned.

Recently, Beckham had a workout in Arizona, and there were 12 teams in attendance. Teams that were listed as Beckham’s biggest suitors were the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, Dallas Cowboys and Jets, per theScore’s Jordan Schultz.

The Jets have become a team to watch on the Beckham front now with this latest update.
