Chiefs rumors: 3 moves that will help replace Mecole Hardman, JuJu Smith-Schuster
Odell Beckham Jr. should jump at chance to play with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs
Especially after the buzz at the end of the 2022 regular season, it seemed like Odell Beckham Jr. was destined to be the next apple of Jerry Jones’ eye and join the Dallas Cowboys. But after they traded for Brandin Cooks, that seems substantially less likely if not outright impossible. Thus, the OBJ sweepstakes have opened up.
There have been rumors swirling recently that Beckham might be favored to head to the New York Jets with personal friend Aaron Rodgers. OBJ was on the quarterback’s reported wish list for the Jets and the likelihood of him ending up back in the Big Apple, though with the other team from the one that drafted him, seems to be growing.
Yet, in the same MMQB mailbag from Albert Breer, the NFL insider mentioned Beckham as well as a potential option for the Chiefs. Again, like with the Hopkins trade, it could come down to cost.
While that’s true, Beckham being a free agent does change the calculus in a way that a trade for Hopkins wouldn’t. We’ve already seen reports that OBJ has lowered his asking price after early free agency talks. Now for the chance to play with Patrick Mahomes for the defending Super Bowl champs and one of the favorites to win it again next season, you have to believe he might be interested in offering Kansas City another discount.
