The Phoenix Suns got some good news regarding star Kevin Durant, who is now on pace to return before the playoffs.

The Phoenix Suns made the big splash ahead of the trade deadline by acquiring superstar Kevin Durant from the Brooklyn Nets. Durant had played just three game with the Suns following his return from a sprained MCL. Then just ahead of his home debut in Phoenix on March 8, Durant slipped on the court during warmups, and was diagnosed with a left ankle sprain.

The fear was that Durant would be sidelined until the start of the playoffs.

On Friday, the Suns got some good news regarding Durant. According to The Athletic and Stadium NBA insider Shams Charania, Durant is “progressing towards a potential return to action” for the team’s March 29 game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, barring a setback.

Kevin Durant could potentially return to Suns before playoffs

This is certainly welcome news for the Suns and the fanbase. Ironically, the aforementioned game against the Timberwolves is a home game for the Suns, so it would be Durant’s first game at Phoenix with the team.

Entering their game against the Sacramento Kings on Friday night, the Suns are sitting in fourth place in the Western Conference with a 38-34 record. But, the gap between fourth and the 12th place Utah Jazz is just three games, so the urgency is there for Phoenix. There is no room for error in the team’s final 10 games of the regular season.

In Durant’s three games played with the Suns, he averaged 26.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists, while shooting 69.0-percent from the field and 53.8-percent from the three point line.

There you have it Suns fans, Durant is trending to return to the team by March 29, just before the start of the playoffs, barring a setback.
