The NASCAR Cup Series traveled to COTA this weekend for the Echopark Automotive Grand Prix.

After the action-packed Truck Series and Xfinity Series races earlier this weekend, the NASCAR Cup Series took its turn at COTA on Sunday.

Entering the day, William Byron, one of the hottest drivers in the series right now, sat on the pole with last year’s winner, Ross Chastain starting 12th.

The biggest storylines of the weekend resided in the road course ringers (Jordan Taylor, Kimi Räikkönen, Jenson Button), most of whom were making either their first or second career starts in the Cup Series.

Although pole sitter William Byron and road course-racing legend AJ Allmendinger were widely expected to dominate today’s race, Tyler Reddick easily cruised to victory lane in the event, the third road course victory (and fourth overall) of his career.

The race was filled to the brim with action. Nearly 10 cars earned a DNF, including Allmendinger and seven-time series champ Jimmie Johnson, who came out of retirement to run a part-time schedule in the 2023 season.

At the end of the race, drivers couldn’t stop bumping into each other. Three different times did the race come down to the final two laps before a caution flag was thrown due to debris on the track from accidents.
