Another area where the Buccaneers should be looking to improve at is the wide receiver position. With Brady out of the picture and Mayfield in, they are going to need some skilled receivers if they hope to remain competitive in the NFC South. Unfortunately for the Buccaneers, several of the top free-agent wide receivers are off of the board, and they missed out on a possible perfect match in JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Smith-Schuster inked a three-year, $25.5 million contract with the Patriots, and he is expected to be one of the top weapons this season because of it. This is easy to understand, as he is coming off of a season that saw him record three touchdowns, 78 receptions, and 933 receiving yards in 16 games played for the Kansas City Chiefs. He was also a key contributor for them during their run to the Super Bowl.

The Buccaneers needed a player like Smith-Schuster to provide a spark to their weakened offense, but unfortunately for Tampa Bay, the Patriots simply stood out as a better destination for him. It is a shame because he could have been a great fit for their system and provided Mayfield with another solid receiver to work with.
