NFL Rumors: Seattle Seahawks are “legit” candidates in the ’23 NFL Draft quarterback sweepstakes
Everyone know the Panthers, Texans, and Colts are looking for a quarterback in the 2023 NFL Draft. A team that could drop the other shoe in April? The Seattle Seahawks.
This offseason, the Seahawks have been seriously vetting all QB prospects with Pete Carroll and John Schneider jetting off around the nation to see each player’s pro day.
The #Seahawks have legit interest in the top QB prospects in this draft. That’s why the owner let Pete Carroll and John Schneider borrow her plane so they could hit each major pro day last week.

Now, this isn’t exactly a huge surprise. Carroll said before that he would still consider drafting a quarterback even if Geno Smith was re-signed. Weeks after Smith got his extension and with the draft coming up, Seattle nabbing a young QB prospect with the fifth overall pick is becoming more and more real.
Smith put together a comeback season for the ages in 2022, but even he must know he’s not the franchise’s long-term solution. If Carroll does take a young signal-caller, the Seahawks will have a much clearer succession plan in place, and Smith will likely take on more of a mentorship role in 2023 to help develop the rookie into a reliable starter one day.
As long as everyone’s on the same page, there should be no problems in the Seahawks’ war room.
