Best NRFI and YRFI bets today (Fade David Peterson)
We got off to a strong start with our NRFI and YRFI bets on MLB Opening Day. We went 2-1, with the only loss being the YRFI in the Twins/Royals game.
Let’s see if we can keep that momentum up today as we deal with a shorter slate on Friday.
If you aren’t familiar, NRFI and YRFI bets are wagers on the first inning of a baseball game. If you bet on the NRFI, “no runs first inning”, you are betting on exactly that, for there to be no runs scored in the first inning. If you bet on YRFI, “yes runs first inning”, you are betting on at least one run to be scored in the first inning.
It’s as easy as that.
Let’s dive into my favorite NRFI and YRFI bets for Friday’s action.
March 31st NRFI and YRFI bets
- Mets/Marlins YRFI (+115)
- Diamondbacks/Dodgers YRFI (+100)
- Guardians/Mariners NRFI (-120)
Mets/Marlins YRFI
David Peterson gets the start for the Mets today, now the Justin Verlander has been placed on the IL. That shapes up well for us YRFI bettors, because Peterson was abysmal in the first inning last season.
In 19 1st inning appearances, Peterson gave up an ERA of 6.87, by far his worst performing inning.
If that sort of 1st inning production continues today, we’re in a great spot with a plus-money YRFI bet.
Diamondbacks/Dodgers YRFI
In a similar vein, Merrill Kelly of the Diamondbacks also struggled in the first inning last season. He sported a 1st inning ERA of 5.18, his worst performing inning. He generally gets off to slow starts but settles in as the game progresses. That’s great news for us YRFI bettors.
The Dodgers were also the fourth best 1st inning offense last season, averaging 0.63 1st inning runs per game.
Guardians/Mariners NRFI
Unlike the two aforementioned pitchers, Robbie Ray was solid in the 1st inning last season, sporting a 3.09 ERA in 32 starts. Also, neither team scored in the first inning in their meeting last night, so let’s hope that trend continue when they face-off for the second straight day tonight.
