Chris Sale had NSFW message for umpire during disastrous start (Video)

Boston Red Sox pitcher Chris Sale had some harsh words for an umpire during Saturday’s game against the Orioles.
The Boston Red Sox defeated the Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park on Saturday in a high-scoring affair that included a profane-laced outburst from one of the most eyed players on the field.
Pitcher Chris Sale made his 2023 debut in his first home game since the 2021 ALCS, and within three innings, the Red Sox had seen enough.
Sale gave up seven runs on six hits and two walks, notching six strikeouts in total. His 21.00 ERA is frightful. What may be more frightful is the way he lashed out at an umpire early in the game claiming that his pitch was a strike.
Given how poorly he was playing at the start of the game, it makes sense as to why Sale felt the need to vent his frustrations. After just three innings, Sale came off the mound looking like an out-of-control pitcher who has regressed since his All-Star years.
Red Sox’s Chris Sale yells profanities at an umpire in pitiful start to the season
Sale had dealt with injuries for the last three years ranging from Tommy John surgery to a rib stress fracture to a broken wrist. Will 2023 be his at-long-last injury-free year? Time will tell.
This game marked his 12th regular season start since the beginning of the 2020 season, and after a disastrous performance like that, the Red Sox may be seriously regretting Sale’s contract. There are currently two years left on Sale’s five-year, $145 million deal.
The veteran lefty made his feelings well-known in cursing out the officials and was obviously not satisfied with his first start of 2023. If he’s going to be part of the Red Sox payroll for the next few years, he can’t be throwing tantrums on the field and needs to figure out how to be a more effective and consistent starter in the Red Sox rotation.
Boston still managed to eke out a 9-8 win over the Orioles, but it was in spite of Sale’s atrocious start. Hopefully, he shows better form and character next game.
