NFL Rumors: 4 potential trades for Patriots QB Mac Jones

Trade Number 3: Mac Jones gets traded to the Raiders
It was interesting to hear Florio mention the Raiders as a possible landing spot. This offseason, they signed veteran Jimmy Garoppolo to a 3-year deal worth $72.5 million and $45 million guaranteed. Whether or not you understand NFL contracts, all you have to know is that this type of deal guarantees Garoppolo the starting job. That’s a good amount of guaranteed money which, at least, says he is going to be “the guy” for the next year or two.
So, if the Raiders went in on Jones, that likely means Garoppolo becomes a bridge as they try and develop Jones a bit further before handing him the reins.
In this trade, the Raiders give up three picks for Jones, but the first doesn’t come until no. 70 this year. Las Vegas owns a pair of third-round picks this year, though, which they would surrender in the trade. Next year, the Patriots would get a sixth rounder from the Raiders, as well.
Again, Vegas is an intriguing spot for Jones, knowing that he’ll come in and back up Garoppolo right away. Wouldn’t it be something, though, if Jones gave Garoppolo a run for his money in camp? It’s not too crazy to imagine, either, because Jones would be reuniting with his former offensive coordinator, Josh McDaniels, who is now head coach in Vegas.
