Trade Number 4: Mac Jones is shipped off to the Texans

This could end up being best-case scenario for the Houston Texans, should Jones work out long-term. Obviously, Houston is in a great position to select one of Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, Anthony Richardson or even Will Levis, depending on whom they believe in.

But, owning that No. 2 overall pick also gives them a ton of power. Houston very well could trade for Jones, making him their de facto starter for 2023, and then turn around and trade that second overall pick for an absolute haul.

Imagine the Texans getting a guy like Jones, who by some accounts, could still be a franchise quarterback. We don’t necessarily know if he is or isn’t just yet. But, in addition, they could wind up getting multiple first rounders in exchange for that No. 2 pick, giving them a ton of ammunition this year and for years to come.

Let’s say the Texans move back a few spots and still end up with a pair of picks such as TCU wide receiver Quentin Johnston and Texas Tech edge rusher Tyree Wilson with their first two selections. They would likely have another pick in the second round, to replace the one they gave up for Jones, and potentially even more capital later on this draft, and next year, too.
