Tyreek Hill reveals when he plans to retire, and it’s sooner than you think

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill revealed when he plans on retiring from the NFL, and it may happen much earlier than you’d expect.

The Miami Dolphins made plenty of big moves in the past year, including this offseason with the acquisition of Los Angeles Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey. But the team made their first huge splash by acquiring wide receiver Tyreek Hill from the Kansas City Chiefs, and signing him to a four-year, $120 million contract. Hill’s play helped the offense thrive and drove Miami to the playoffs for the first time since 2016. Now, the Dolphins are looking to build off of that season in 2023.

But how much longer will Hill be a part of the NFL, let alone the Dolphins?

During an appearance on “Totally Offensive” on Sports Radio 810 WHB, Hill revealed to former Chiefs teammates Anthony Sherman and Gehrig Dieter that his plan is to play 10 years in the NFL, and then retire. Hill said that he would like to get into “the gaming space.”

"“I’m going for 10, man,” Hill said, h/t NFL.com. “I’m gonna finish out this contract with the Dolphins and then I’m gonna call it quits. I want to go into the business side. I want to do so many things in my life, bro.“So I really want to get into like the gaming space. I really want to get huge in that and that’s kind of what I’m doing right now. I’m using my platform, creating a gaming team, which isn’t launched yet. It should launch by the end of this month. I’m gonna just sign like different content creators, different athletes. I just been working that, talking to different sponsors.”"

Based off of the 10-year mark for his plan to retire, that would be after the 2025 season. Per Spotrac, he would have one more year remaining on his contract with Dolphins, in which he would count for $56.3 million against the cap in 2026.

As mentioned earlier, Hill made an immediate impact for the Dolphins. Playing in all 17 regular-season games, Hill recorded a career-high 119 receptions and 1,710 yards on 170 targets.

Hill also made some other newsworthy comments when speaking with Sherman and Dieter, including how he would be the Chiefs’ “worst enemy” when they play each other in the 2023 season.

Based off Hill’s timeline, he will play for three more seasons until retiring. Dolphins fans sure do hope that they can win a Super Bowl before the end of the 2025 season.
