Jalen Hurts signed a record contract extension with the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday morning, making him the highest-paid player in the NFL per AAV.

The Eagles, of course, now need to add more talent around Hurts so that the next time they make the Super Bowl, they come away victorious. One Lombardi trophy over the next four years will make the $51 million AAV worthwhile.

While the majority of top free agents are gone, Philadelphia can and should remain active in the trade market and the NFL Draft. The Eagles pick tenth, and have a litany of potential star rookies at their disposal.

Philadelphia lost a few key free agents this offseason so far — including Javon Hargrave, Andre Dillard, Miles Sanders, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, T.J. Edwards and more. Now that Hurts deal is done, which was easily the most important of Philly’s offseason needs, they can focus on other areas.

Eagles rumors: Sign a linebacker

Philadelphia has a clear need at linebacker, and there are still a few available in free agency that would make a difference on this Eagles team. As Inside the Iggles noted, linebacker is one of the team’s biggest holes entering this year’s draft cycle:

“Philadelphia needs to replace the productivity of T.J. Edwards and Kyzir White. Together, the duo led the team in tackles last season with a combined 269 total stops,” Jackie Quattro wrote.

While Nicholas Morrow, Haason Reddick and Christian Elliss have some potential, it would be smart for Philadelphia to add a sound veteran on the outside to help aid the pass rush. Look no further than Leonard Floyd.

Brendan Deeg of The Score considered Floyd a fit over a month ago. Yet, at this point, a move has yet to be made:

"“Leonard Floyd is a guy Howie could like. He won’t go against the comp pick formula, and he was in Chicago with Sean Desai. He has 29 sacks over the last three years and could be cheap at 30 years old,” Deeg posted."

Floyd could come at a cost, but considering the draft is just weeks away, Philly could potentially land him on a one-year prove it contract.
