5) MLB Power Rankings: Toronto Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays ended the 13-0 winning streak the Tampa Bay Rays had going into their first matchup last week. This loaded roster should remain one of the best in baseball throughout the season. They’ve somehow even done it without the starting pitching doing all that well. Despite some early red flags from guys like Chris Bassitt and Jose Berrios, their ability to win games in spite of poor outings from their starters should have fans feeling good.

4) MLB Power Rankings: Atlanta Braves

It’s not the Atlanta Braves’ fault they haven’t played too many very good teams yet this season. Regardless, it does hurt them only slightly in the MLB Power Rankings. They’re the runner-up in the National League this week and fourth overall in baseball. Already having to overcome some pretty big injuries, the overall state of the ball club looks good and it looks like their lineup as a couple of early MVP candidates. One thing working against the Braves is they haven’t played a team that currently has a .500 record.

3) MLB Power Rankings: Minnesota Twins

Are the Minnesota Twins for real? They showed the New York Yankees they can hang with them this weekend in the Bronx. Their early lead in the American League Central is in large part thanks to their pitching that has been superb. The trio of Pablo Lopez, Joe Ryan, and Sonny Gray lead the way with some help from others including a bullpen that has shown a lot of toughness early on. Imagine how good this team can be if they actually start hitting better. They’re pretty void of power at the moment with Joey Gallo on the IL. It hasn’t mattered yet but look for them to start scouting some sluggers.

2) MLB Power Rankings: Milwaukee Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers stay at number two in this week’s MLB Power Rankings. Having gone to battle against several teams over .500 and coming out on top more often than not, it’s time we put some respect on this team’s name. The season is long and a mid-year collapse could always happen again. The Brewers need to put as much ground between them and the St. Louis Cardinals. Take advantage while they’re cold.

1) MLB Power Rankings: Tampa Bay Rays

The Tampa Bay Rays finally lost last week but it doesn’t knock them off the pedestal. Their 13-0 record to begin the year was good enough to keep their place at the top of this week’s MLB Power Rankings. Their early soft schedule of jobbers has shifted to some much better teams. We’ll see if they are for real or if the Rays got caught bullying teams much weaker than they are early on.
