Bills safety Damar Hamlin just got the best news regarding his recovery from cardiac arrest: he can play football again.

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin won the game of life after his scary incident this past February when he collapsed mid-game due to cardiac arrest. Roughly three months later, Hamlin still has a few more wins left in him — wins in the game of football, that is.

Hamlin has officially been cleared by multiple specialists and can resume “full activities” with the team, per general manager Brandon Beane.

Beane told reporters on Tuesday that Hamlin is “in a great head space to come back and make his return,” and the 25-year-old has reportedly been participating in voluntary offseason workouts in Buffalo this week.

This marks the next successful stage of Hamlin’s recovery: he can play football again.

After Hamlin’s collapse against the Cincinnati Bengals, he had to be revived with CPR on the field and was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital.

Members of the NFL community came together in solidarity and wished Hamlin a speedy and full recovery, and support poured in from all corners of the country. Thankfully, Hamlin was found to be “neurologically intact” and responsive two days after the incident, though he remained in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

The most important thing to come out of all of this is that Hamlin went through a miraculous recovery and seemingly regained full health.

Hamlin spoke back in February about returning to play football, and now doctors have officially given him the green light to play again, a massive win in the young defender’s ongoing fight for not only his life but his NFL career.

Brandon Beane elaborated on Hamlin’s remarkable development and clearance status:

"“He saw a couple of specialists here in Buffalo and then since then, he’s seen three additional specialists, most recently on Friday and they’re all in agreement. It’s not 2-1 or 3-1 or anything like that. They’re all in lockstep of what this was and that he’s cleared, resumed full activities just like anyone else who was coming back from an injury or whatever.”"

The Bills welcomed Hamlin back with open arms in a touching social media post featuring a picture of Hamlin making his iconic heart gesture and the caption, “Glad to have you back, 3.” The rest of the league no doubt feels the same.
