Raiders Rumors: 3 risky trades to make with 49ers for Trey Lance

Trade Number 1: The Raiders give San Francisco exactly what they are rumored to want for Trey Lance

In this package, the 49ers get just what the rumors say they want: two second-round picks, with one coming this year and another in 2024.

If the Raiders dealt for Trey Lance, one would have to wonder just how that would affect Jimmy Garoppolo, who signed a three-year deal with Las Vegas this offseason. Garoppolo’s deal is worth over $72 million, with $45 million guaranteed. Now, Vegas could get out of that deal next year and save roughly $6 million against the cap.

But, Garoppolo and Lance being reunited would certainly be something, wouldn’t it?

Even after signing Garoppolo, though, there have been a lot of whispers in regard to whether or not Vegas is confident in the veteran being a long-term solution, or even whether they could draft a quarterback this year to groom for the future. Of course, that’s why the contract was structured in a way that they could get out of it a little early. Not to mention, Lance has two years left on his rookie deal with a fifth-year option that can be picked up.

While Lance continues his road back from a torn ACL, it’s easy to see Garoppolo holding the reins on his starting position for 2023. But, after this coming season, there would be a good possibility the Raiders see what they have in Lance to become their franchise quarterback.

If the two second-rounders weren’t enough, maybe the Raiders get more creative.
