Breaking down Zurich Classic DraftKings picks for the week at TPC Louisiana with top plays, top fades and building a PGA DFS golf lineup.

We’re heading to TPC Louisiana for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans this week. It’s the PGA Tour’s lone team event on the calendar. That should be more exciting than it is but, let’s be honest, most golf fans are not particularly locked in on the Zurich in a week following the back-to-back of The Masters and the elevated RBC Heritage.

Even still, we’re going back into the PGA DFS realm of things. We’ve been solid lately and hope to continue cashing with our Zurich Classic DraftKings picks this week.

Fair warning, I get a bit tentative when it comes to non-stroke play events in DFS tournaments and overall. So with the team aspect of this, know that I would give these Zurich Classic DraftKings picks less confident than normal, just to give you a full disclosure of how we’re feeling.

With that, let’s get into the top plays, top fades and a PGA DFS lineup for this week at the Zurich.

Zurich Classic DraftKings picks for PGA DFS lineups: Top Plays

$10,000: Patrick Cantlay/Xander Schauffele ($11,100) – Let’s just be real, this duo is the heavy favorite and highest-priced team for good reason. They are the defending champions, profile the best statistically in terms of recent form, and have a 4-0 alternate shot record in international competition, which is how you make headway in this tournament. They’re the goods and are worth the price. Also Consider: Sungjae Im/Keith Mitchell ($10,400), Sahith Theegala/Justin Suh ($10,000)

$9,000: Sam Burns/Billy Horschel ($9,500) – To put it plainly, the recent form for Billy Horschel statistically is none too kind. Yet, we saw him show life at the Match Play, which is a format where he’s thrived previously. Meanwhile, he and Sam Burns — who has been turning back into form recently — finished T2 and T4 in the past two years at the Zurich. This feels like they’re being undervalued and that Horschel will pop out of this slump, at least for the week. Also Consider: Wyndham Clark/Beau Hossler ($9,400), Kurt Kitayama/Taylor Montgomery ($9,100)

$8,000: Matt Fitzpatrick/Alex Fitzpatrick (8,200) – People are sleeping on the Fitzpatricks this week because younger brother Alex is unknown. But he shouldn’t be. He was once a Top 10 ranked amateur and has been playing well on the Challenge Tour since his time at Wake Forest. Combine that with last week’s winner, Matt, and there is something cooking with this pair. Also Consider: Joel Dahmen/Denny McCarthy ($8,900), Nick Hardy/Davis Riley ($8,600), Robby Shelton/Lee Hodges ($8,100)

$7,000: Nicolai Hojgaard/Thorbjorn Olesen ($7,900) – I’m all aboard this Danish duo this week. Statistically based on their performance largely on the DP World Tour with a few PGA Tour starts this year, they are one of the better statistical profiles in the field this week. I think they can dominate with ball striking and really put the heat on some of the bigger names in Louisiana this week. Also Consider: Zach Johnson/Steve Stricker ($7,800), Ryan Gerard/Ben Griffin ($7,700), Byeon Hun An/SH Kim ($7,100), Sam Saunders/Eric Cole ($7,000),

$6,000: Jason Dufner/Kevin Chappell ($6,900) – Point blank, you’d have to force me to dip into the $6K range in this field by extreme means. It’s not pretty. With that said, the ball striking of Duff Daddy and Chappell is at least somewhat intriguing to where they could potentially be average with their putters and piece together a solid finish. Also Consider: None

Zurich Classic DraftKings picks for PGA DFS lineups: Top Fades

$10,000: Max Homa/Collin Morikawa ($10,900) – The sticker on this team is much more attractive than the results we’ve actually been seeing. This is particularly about Max Homa, whose ball striking just hasn’t been at the level we’ve come to expect over the past couple of years with his rise to being one of the world’s top players. That’s concerning in this format and I’m not buying in on the name brand of the pairing.

$9,000: Si Woo Kim/Tom Kim ($9,700) – I’ve been on the Tom Kim bandwagon for a while now, but I just don’t like the feels leading into this week. His play has been pedestrian at best and now he’s paired with Si Woo Kim, one of the toughest players to trust on the PGA Tour because of his volatility. I can’t rightly take them as the top-priced team in the $9K range.

$8,000: Doc Redman/Sam Ryder ($8,300) – Based on the high end of both of these players, I could get there with this team, especially after a solid finish here a year ago. I’m not there now, though. Redman, in particular, just hasn’t had the ball striking that we see when he’s playing at his best and that just doesn’t vibe right in an $8K range I’m extremely high on value-wise this week.

$7,000: Ryan Brehm/Mark Hubbard ($7,200) – Mark Hubbard is often a player who I can fall in love with but I have no trouble here given his recent form and with his partner this week. Simply, neither of these guys are playing well right now and, though the $7K range leaves quite a lot to be desired, I don’t think the value is here as it might seem like it could be based on history.

Zurich Classic: Best DraftKings golf PGA DFS lineup

  • Sam Burns/Billy Horschel ($9,500)
  • Wyndham Clark/Beau Hossler ($9,400)
  • Alex Fitzpatrick/Matt Fitzpatrick ($8,200)
  • Nicolai Hojgaard/Thorbjorn Olesen ($7,900)
  • Ryan Gerard/Ben Griffin ($7,700)
  • Byeong Hun An/SH Kim ($7,100)

Against probably my better judgment, but more so to avoid the dog-water $6K range this week, I’m skipping out on the $10K range entirely. But I love the upside of the Burns/Horschel pairing and Clark has been playing beautifully this year and is now paired with an elite putter in Hossler.

We know about the Fitzpatricks and the Danish team, but Gerard and Griffin are a nice fit for what each player does well and should perform nicely. Meanwhile, Benny An has been playing some sneaky good golf this year and should pair nicely with SH Kim.
