Houston Texans Rumors: 3 juicy trades to land Trey Lance
By Ryan Heckman
1. Houston makes things really spicy in acquiring Trey Lance
Let’s make the assumption that, the closer we get to Draft Day, the 49ers start receiving more and more interest, which drives the price of Lance higher than two second-rounders. If that’s the case, the Texans could offer something highly-controversial such as this deal.
Yes, you read that correctly. The Texans send their No. 12 overall pick to San Francisco, allowing the rich to get even richer and setting San Francisco up for an unbelievable addition to a possible Super Bowl team.
With that selection, the 49ers very well could end up with a player like Pittsburgh defensive lineman Calijah Kancey, Maryland cornerback Deonte Banks or Penn State cornerback Joey Porter Jr. On San Francisco’s end, this would likely be the best possible deal they’d get offered.
On the Texans’ end, though, they not only get Lance, but a third-rounder this year, too. That slightly offsets the sting of giving up a first-rounder for an unproven quarterback like Lance. Also, the possibility of moving back from the second overall pick to obtain more draft capital becomes more real, which would also lessen the damage a bit.
