Hendon Hooker has been a polarizing 2023 NFL Draft prospect as the Tennessee quarterback has built up steam to be a first round pick after posting a Heisman Trophy caliber season in Knoxville before tearing his ACL at the end of the season.

Hooker is 25 years old already, but has risen up draft boards to become a coin flip to go in the first round as teams bring him in for visits. Here’s the latest from Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network.

Sportsbooks have posted props on an over/under of 4.5 for quarterbacks in the first round, with Hooker the likely swing pick after Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, Will Levis and Anthony Richardson. It’s slightly shaded towards the under at this point in the process.

However, who will take Hooker, regardless of the round? Here are the odds one week away from the 2023 NFL Draft.

Most of the team’s at the top of the board are teams picking in the back half of the first round on the idea that many want to secure a fifth year option with Hooker, starting with the Minnesota Vikings, who pick No. 23.

The Vikings don’t need to rush Hooker into the fire after his knee injury and he can learn from veteran Kirk Cousins.

After that, the Raiders, who are picking No. 7 and No. 38 are the second choice at +600.

Further, the Lions, who have picks at No. 6, No. 18 and No. 48 are at +800, tied with the Seahawks, who are in a similar position as Detroit.

Both teams have veteran quarterbacks in place already and a surplus of picks in this draft after overachieving expectations following blockbuster trades in recent years. Seattle is picking No. 5, No. 20 and No. 52.

There are plenty of other teams listed as well, but it does appear that a market is forming around teams that can take chances in the back half of the first round or the beginning of the second round to snag the Tennessee product.
