Triple H unveiled a new World Heavyweight Championship on Monday Night Raw, and WWE fans had some thoughts on its design.

The WWE Draft officially begins on the Apr. 28 episode of Friday Night SmackDown. Roman Reigns holds the Universal and WWE championships, creating the Undisputed WWE Universal championship. With that, there was uncertainty about whether Reigns will compete on two shows or on one show holding both titles.

During the Apr. 24 episode of Monday Night Raw, WWE chief content officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque made an announcement that would “rock the foundation” of the company. Triple H addressed the status of Reigns as champion, saying that he negotiated a contract that allowed him to defend both championships less frequently, and revealed that once Reigns is drafted to either Raw or SmackDown, he will take the title with him. So, where does that leave the brand who doesn’t have Reigns?

Triple H then announced that at Night of Champions premium live event on May 27 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, a new World Heavyweight champion would be determined. That is when he unveiled the design of the new championship belt.

Let’s just say that fans had some thoughts about the design of the new title.

Essentially, it has the feel of the old “big gold belt,” but with the current WWE logo seen on the Intercontinental title plastered on it. This will take some getting used to for some fans, as has other titles in the past (i.e. the original Universal title back in 2016).

There desperately needed to be a new world championship, especially with Reigns still holding onto the Undisputed WWE Universal title. He is approaching the 1,000 day mark as champion after defending against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39, and it appears as though there is no end in sight for his reign.

As for who will compete for the new World Heavyweight title, those answers will arrive after the draft, which will take place on the Apr. 28 episode of SmackDown and the May 1 episode of Raw.
