Today’s USMNT news roundup includes incoming Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino offering Christian Pulisic a lifeline, transfer rumors on Yunus Musah and Chris Richards talking Crystal Palace.

USMNT news: Christian Pulisic to be given Chelsea lifeline

Christian Pulisic has been left on the bench by Frank Lampard in Chelsea’s last two matches. There had been a lot of speculation that he would move on from the club last January but his knee injury ruled him out of any transfer.

The USMNT forward was linked with Manchester United, Arsenal, and Newcastle in the Premier League but there was also talk of him moving across Europe. However, he might now be thinking of staying at Stamford Bridge after recent news broke that Chelsea’s incoming manager Pochettino is an admirer of Pulisic.

According to Calciomercatio “The Argentine has already made it known that he wants to keep some of the players who have been out for some time, above all Pulisic.”

Pulisic flourished in Lampard’s first spell as manager but lost his way a bit under Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter. Pochettino’s stance may just be talk as Potter also said that Pulisic was part of his plans but still used him sparingly.

Rumors of Pulisic leaving have gone quiet recently so maybe it will turn out that he will get more of a chance under Pochettino and stay at Chelsea.

USMNT news: Yunus Musah transfer rumors

It has recently been reported that Yunus Musah is ready to move on from Valencia, with his current club 16th in La Liga.

There have been more rumours about his future with Fichajes reporting that Liverpool and Inter Milan “have shown the most interest. Although no official offer from any of these clubs for Yunus Musah has yet been confirmed, it is expected that his future will be decided in the coming weeks.”

Moving to Liverpool would make sense, especially after the club ruled themselves out of signing Jude Bellingham. Their current midfield needs to be freshened up with Jordan Henderson and James Milner both now in their 30s. Musah is just 20 so would be a long-term solution to Jurgen Klopp’s midfield.

Musah spent much of his youth career in England with Arsenal but he also had a spell with Italian side Giorgione. A return to Italy with Inter would also be tempting for Musah. There should also be space for him in their midfield with Nicolo Barella and Marcelo Brozovic possibly leaving the club.

USMNT news: Chris Richards on Palace

Chris Richards got a rare start for Palace this week where he played a full game in their 2-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanders.

Speaking to Crystal Palace’s official website after the game, Richards said “I like being on the field – right-back, centre-back, left-wing, I’ll do whatever! It’s really good to be finally back in the XI and to play 90 (minutes).”

The American is predominantly a centre-back but his versatility could be key for Palace’s remaining games. The Eagles have had a resurgence since Roy Hodgson replaced Patrick Vieira and the side is now 12th in the Premier League so should be safe from relegation.
