2024 NFL Draft: Way too early mock draft has Caleb Williams, Marvin Harrison Jr. teaming up, Bucs finding Brady’s successor
Early 2024 NFL Draft mock draft: Bears fill biggest needs on each side of ball, Alabama has two more off the board
The Rams picking in the first round? What sorcery is this?
A teardown of the roster in Los Angeles has already happened outside of Aaron Donald, Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp (for the most part at least), so now picking in the first round is that much more important. Here, they find a Jalen Ramsey replacement in Kool-Aid McKinstry. The Alabama star checks all the boxes physically and really put it together on the field in the 2022 season as he was one of the best in college football in terms of pass breakups.
Pick via Panthers
A transfer from Albany, you have to wonder how badly FCS opponents felt after playing against Jared Verse given that he came to Florida State and immediately dominated, despite the jump in competition.
Verse returned to the Seminoles instead of declaring in 2023, though, which the Bears are thankful for with this pick. After adding some upside on the defensive line in this year’s draft, they can now get a dominant edge presence, which Verse is as an elite pass-rusher with the ability to win in a variety of ways.
Picking back-to-back thanks to the Panthers trading up to the first pick, the Bears now fill a massive hole on the other side of the ball by getting Justin Fields another weapon, one from his alma mater too. Emeka Egbuka might get overshadowed by Marvin Harrison Jr., but he’s a stud in his own right. The 6-foot-1 pass-catcher had 1,151 yards and 10 touchdowns on 74 grabs a year ago. As smooth as they come, he can be a star opposite of D.J. Moore.
There isn’t a dire need in New England for a pass-rusher but, at the same time, the Patriots are never shy about adding a great player to the mix and Dallas Turner is decided that.
While he might not be quite as good as Will Anderson Jr., Turner is perhaps more overall explosive and flashed a ton of potential this past year at Alabama. He possesses great bend and the ability to just leave tackles in the dust. He could be in for a monster season in 2023 for the Crimson Tide, which will only further raise his draft stack for 2024.
