James Harden showed up to Game 1 of 76ers-Celtics in a wild pregame fit that had NBA Twitter trolling him to death with memes and tweets.

If the Philadelphia 76ers are going to continue their road to the NBA Finals in the 2023 NBA Playoffs, then James Harden is going to have to put on a superhero act to start the second round.

Facing off with the rival Boston Celtics, Harden will be without fellow superstar Joel Embiid for at least Game 1 and potentially longer as the 76ers big man tries to come back quickly from a knee injury that, frankly, doesn’t have a quick recovery time.

So how is James Harden handling the pressure? Based on his pre-Game 1 fashion choices, he’s unbothered.

This is what Harden showed up to Boston and TD Garden wearing on Monday night ahead of the series opener.

Best memes and tweets trolling James Harden pre-Game 1 outfit

Whenever any player rocks a fit like this pregame, NBA Twitter is going to pop off. Whenever it’s James Harden wearing this type of outfit, though, it’s a special performance from social media as they came in hot with the memes and responses.

For what it’s worth, whatever magic Harden was hiding in the JNCO-level pants he was wearing seemed to work in the first quarter, at least for the Sixers guard. He came out hot, scoring 16 of the team’s 31 points in the first period on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and 2-of-4 shooting from 3-point range. He also added a pair of assists.

Unfortunately, that still didn’t pull Philly out of a seven-point hole after the first quarter. It’s clear that this team is much less of a factor without Embiid.

One thing Embiid can’t change, though, is that James Harden remains a fashion icon — we’re just not sure which type of icon yet.
