3 super-old former Packers that Aaron Rodgers could force the Jets to sign
1. Jordy Nelson
What is Aaron Rodgers without Jordy Nelson? Sure, there have been other No. 1 receivers that Rodgers worked with throughout his long career with the Packers, but no one comprised a more prolific combination that Rodgers and Nelson in the passing game.
No receiver that Rodgers has ever played has caught more touchdown passes from the quarterback than Nelson. A second-round pick the year that Rodgers became the starter in Green Bay, Nelson spent 10 seasons teamed up with the signal-caller and caught an absurd 70 touchdowns in that span, 65 of which came in the regular season.
Nelson also produced a few monster seasons, including four with more than 1,250 yards and three with 13 or more touchdown catches.
But the best news for the Jets? Jordy Nelson is a spry 37 years old — plenty of gas left in the tank. Don’t worry about the fact that he was a shell of himself in his final year with Green Bay and in his final NFL season with the Raiders. He’s friends with Aaron Rodgers, and that’s all that matters here.
We’re having a reunion in New York and it’ll feel like a shell of what it could’ve been if Jordy Nelson isn’t invited.
