Padres gave the Dodgers all the bulletin board material they need to kick into gear

The San Diego Padres gave the Los Angeles Dodgers bulletin board material over the use of a Clayton Kershaw meme after a win on Friday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres faced off against one another for the first time of the season this past Friday. Of course, this was also the first time they met since last year’s National League Division Series, which saw San Diego defeat them in four games. Well, on Friday, the Padres got some early bragging rights.

San Diego picked up the 5-2 victory behind two home runs and three runs batted in by Fernando Tatis Jr. Well, the Padres may have poked the bear after the game, as on the scoreboard at Petco Park, they placed a photo of a crying Clayton Kershaw on their victory graphic.

One day later, the Dodgers were able to get back in the win column with a 2-1 victory.

Chris Taylor was responsible for both of Los Angeles’ runs, courtesy of a home run in the top of the fourth inning off of San Diego starting pitcher Blake Snell.

Dustin May got the start for Los Angeles, where he pitched a full six innings, struck out six San Diego batters and allowed zero runs on three hits.

The Padres could only muster one run on five hits, while stranding 17 runners on base. Tatis was responsible for the run on a double in the bottom of the eighth. However, he was left stranded after Juan Soto and Xander Bogaerts, who both grounded out to end the frame.

Kershaw may not be pitching against the Padres this series, but it could happen down the road. But, the Dodgers have the chance to really make the Padres regret their use of Kershaw’s image in their victory graphic, by way of getting a win on Sunday night in the series finale.
