Breaking down AT&T Byron Nelson DraftKings picks for the week at TPC Craig Ranch with top plays, top fades and building a PGA DFS golf lineup.

One week before the PGA Championship and it’s a trip to Texas for the PGA Tour as we play the AT&T Byron Nelson this week at TPC Craig Ranch. The non-designated event offers quite an interesting slate for our AT&T Byron Nelson DraftKings picks, though, considering the lack of strength of the field.

When it comes to PGA DFS games, I tend to favor events such as this one. The designated events have so much talent — and talent playing well — that there is always value, but it can also be a bit of a crap shoot because of that. In these tournaments that have top-heavy fields, we can better find value on DraftKings and then make some headway in that regard.

So how are we going after this week? Let’s take look at our full AT&T Byron Nelson DraftKings picks with our top plays, top fades and then a winning PGA DFS lineup for this week.

AT&T Byron Nelson DraftKings picks for PGA DFS lineups: Top Plays

$10,000: Tyrrell Hatton ($10,100) – Jordan Spieth withdrawing from this week’s tournament with an injury has left just Scottie Scheffler and Tyrrell Hatton in the $10K range. For me, I’m way more willing to pay $1,800 less for Hatton, who has been playing phenomenally with a T3 last week, great ball striking and overall solid finishes this year, than hoping that Scheffler can win, which he almost has to at that price. Also Consider: None

$9,000: Tom Kim ($9,600) – I have been tepid on Tom Kim and have been rewarded mostly for that with only one Top 20 finish since the start of February. Having said that, his ball striking is really starting to come back and it was a solid T23 a week ago. I think TPC Craig Ranch fits his ability to score and his form, so I’m all over him this week in PGA DFS contests. Also Consider: Jason Day ($9,400), K.H. Lee ($9,300), Adam Scott ($9,200), Matt Kuchar ($9,000)

$8,000: Christiaan Bezuidenhout ($8,000) – Full disclosure, I was ready to jump all over J.J. Spaun at the same price but then he WD’d. But Bezuidenhout has quietly been coming around with three straight Top 28 finishes on the PGA Tour. He’s gaining 0.76 strokes on approach over his last 12 rounds and is also putting well. That’s a good recipe to score low, which is needed to find the leaderboard at the AT&T Byron Nelson. Also Consider: Seamus Power ($8,900), Stephan Jaeger ($8,200)

$7,000: Michael Kim ($7,500) – If you’re sleeping on Michael Kim, you need to stop. While he was out of form (and on the Korn Ferry) for quite a while, he’s found something this year. He’s missed one cut since The American Express, including a T7 last week at the Wells Fargo. He’s gaining strokes across the board over his last 12 rounds, including 1.14 tee-to-green and 0.75 putting as well. He made the cut here in 2021 but is trending toward a much better result this season. Also Consider: Joseph Bramlett ($7,900), Sam Stevens ($7,600), Eric Cole ($7,400), Dylan Wu ($7,400), Nate Lashley ($7,200), Andrew Novak ($7,000)

$6,000: Carson Young ($6,700) – There’s not a ton in the $6K range this week, but Carson Young is highly intriguing and, frankly, should probably be a $7K player. Over the last 12 rounds, he’s gaining 1.44 strokes with his ball striking and putting well. He had an off-driving week at the Wells Fargo and still just missed the cut on the number. I think he’s playing too well to ignore. Also Consider: Kevin Chappell ($6,600)

AT&T Byron Nelson DraftKings picks for PGA DFS lineups: Top Fades

$10,000: Scottie Scheffler ($11,900) – Obviously, Scheffler is the best player in the field. He’s playing a home game and his ball striking numbers in 2023 have been incredible. But the fact of the matter is that having him in your lineup is crippling for what you can do otherwise. Moreover, with his recent finishes being T10 and T11, those would be infuriating results at this price and I’m going a different route with this DraftKings lineup.

$9,000: Hideki Matsuyama ($9,800) – Hideki has a phenomenal track record at TPC Craig Ranch in the brief history at this venue, finishing T3 here last year. However, he was just recently in Japan receiving treatment for his neck injury. As the top-priced players in the $9K range, I’m not going to trust a player who may or may not be healthy, which has unfortunately been a refrain for Matsuyama this season.

$8,000: Aaron Wise ($8,300) – Speaking of players who haven’t been out there, Aaron Wise too a hiatus to focus on his mental health after the Match Play in Austin. He was playing well enough prior to that, but the rust factor is something I can’t look past with that. Wise is a player who I need to see the recent form before playing and there simply is none right now.

$7,000: Justin Suh ($7,600) – The recent profile for Justin Suh is, in a word, problematic. He’s putted well but is losing an unbelievable 2.73 strokes tee-to-green over his last 12 rounds. His putting has helped him to make cuts but, at a birdie-fest like the AT&T Byron Nelson, I don’t see that alone being enough to buoy him in a $7K range rife with value.

AT&T Byron Nelson: Best DraftKings golf PGA DFS lineup

  • Tom Kim ($9,600)
  • K.H. Lee ($9,300)
  • Matt Kuchar ($9,000)
  • Joseph Bramlett ($7,900)
  • Michael Kim ($7,500)
  • Carson Young ($6,700)

I’m skipping out on the $10K range this year because I’m, frankly, in love with the $9K and $7K ranges, as you can tell.

We’ve already talked about Tom Kim, Michael Kim and Carson Young, so we’ll leave that be. When it comes to K.H. Lee, he’s the back-to-back defending champion at this tournament and course and has been trending with his play too, so I’m all in. Matt Kuchar, meanwhile, has finished T23 or better in his last four starts and is gaining strokes across the board and has finished T17 and T12 in the two starts at TPC Craig Ranch.

As for Joseph Bramlett, he has finished in the Top 40 in his last three starts, including gaining 1.5 strokes with his ball striking. His putting has started to tick up too and his driving distance should give him a huge advantage to make some real noise this week.
