New Cincinnati Bengals offensive lineman Orlando Brown Jr., previously of the Kansas City Chiefs, appeared in the team’s schedule announcement of an AFC postseason rematch.

A rematch of the heated Burrowhead rivalry, in which the Chiefs defeated the Bengals en route to a Super Bowl appearance and victory, will have a much-anticipated rematch in Week 17, per the NFL.

The game was announced by Cincinnati mayor Aftab Pureval with some help from new Bengals offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. Brown, of course, was a member of the Kansas City Chiefs last season prior to signing a four-year, $64 million contract with the rival Cincinnati team.

The Bengals made protecting Joe Burrow their primary objective this offseason. Kansas City, meanwhile, felt they replaced Brown Jr. with the likes of Jawaan Taylor and more.

When do the Chiefs and Bengals play?

The Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals play on New Years Eve, aka Week 17 of the NFL slate. The game will take place at Arrowhead Stadium as a home game for Kansas City. Chiefs fans don’t take kindly to Cincinnati, a team which challenged their authority at home, even referring to the stadium as ‘Burrowhead’ ahead of an AFC playoff game. While this was mainly perpetrated by Eli Apple, who is no longer on the team, it was a narrative Bengals players were comfortable floating throughout the week.

Safe to say, it came back to bite them.

What is Burrowhead?

Joe Burrow is 3-1 against Kansas City in his young career. If there is any team that can overcome Steve Spagnuolo’s creative defensive scheme, it is Cincinnati with Burrow, especially since he now has more protection to remain in the pocket without scrambling.

Burrow is one of the more talented passers in the league right now. He’s a top-3 quarterback, and he should be in Cincinnati for quite some time. This rivalry is just getting started, and we’re thankful for the newest iteration to ring in the New Year.
