Today’s USMNT news includes reports that Jesse Marsch is close to being appointed the next head coach of the Stars and Stripes. Ricardo Pepi is set to sign for PSV Eindhoven and Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic has praised Gio Reyna.

USMNT news: Jesse Marsch for the USA job

Jesse Marsch has been out of work since being sacked by Leeds United earlier in the season. The American coach has not rushed into a job and turned down both Southampton and Leicester City. Although these were opportunities to manage Premier League clubs, the Saints have now been relegated and the Foxes are expected to follow them.

It looks like Marsch dodged a bullet by not taking these roles and it has freed him up to potentially take over as head coach of the USMNT. According to MIR97MEDIA “sources with knowledge of the situation say that his appointment is “practically done,” and if appointed he could begin after the CONCACAF Gold Cup this summer.”

If Marsch is to be announced as the next boss, then it will be another massive boost for the Stars and Stripes. The USMNT has recently recruited Folarin Balogun from England. Now Matt Crocker and Oguchi Onyewu are working for U.S. Soccer, great work is getting done and the future of the sport in America looks to be on the up.

USMNT news: Ricardo Pepi to PSV

Ricardo Pepi may be one of the only members of the USMNT squad that is not too overjoyed at Folarin Balogun’s decision to join them. Balogun will likely start ahead of Pepi but the player who is on loan at Groningen from Augsburg may have found a new club.

Lizzy Becherano has reported that “Sources confirm interest from PSV to sign Ricardo Pepi. Unclear whether the deal would consist of a loan or full transfer, but the Eredivisie giants remain the frontrunners to on-load the USMNT figure. Augsburg and Pepi are both eager to mutually part ways.”

Staying in the Netherlands and playing for PSV would be a slight step up for Pepi. However, if he is to compete with Balogun for a starting place with the Stars and Stripes, it might be better if he tries to find a move to one of Europe’s top five leagues.

USMNT news: Edin Terzic on Gio Reyna

Borussia Dortmund’s manager, Edin Terzic, has heaped praise on Gio Reyna when speaking to Ruhr Nachrichten BVB. Terzic said “Reyna does not make it easy for me because he could start the matches. He challenges other guys every day. This is the concept of performance that we want to have.”

Reyna came off the bench to score for BVB in their 5-2 win over Borussia Monchengladbach last weekend. The Black and Yellows face Augsburg on Sunday in what could be a crucial tie in the Bundesliga title race. Dortmund remain just two points behind Bayern Munich with just two league games left to play this season.
