After a busy 2023 off-season, players have settled back in to the flow with their respective teams. Some players have seen their roles change. Which players have the most to prove this year?

The 2023 WNBA off-season saw an exceptional amount of player movement. At least 30 players changed teams, per Across the Timeline’s transaction tracker. For a lot of these players, a new team means a new role. Some move up the depth chart, while others move down or stay the same. Regardless, expectations often change when players change teams. Some players didn’t move, but their roles changed due to other moves around them.

With that in mind, which players have the most to prove in the WNBA this year? Let’s take a look at a few that come to mind.

WNBA players with the most to prove this season:

4. Napheesa Collier, F, Minnesota Lynx

The Lynx are officially in their post-dynasty era. After missing last season while pregnant, Collier comes back to an increased role — and increased pressure. She will have to prove that she is capable of being the top option on a team that doesn’t have another star beside her.

A defensive savant with a blossoming offensive game, Collier has proven that she is a good WNBA player, but can she become an elite top-tier option? Can she lead Minnesota back to contention? This season will be her first chance to answer those questions.
