NBA Free Agency is always a very exciting time for the NBA. Where stars and superstars could potentially be changing teams. When will Free Agency Begin?

Shortly after the NBA season is officially over, the next big thing that fans get to wait for is free agency.

This is where we’ll be paying attention to what stars and superstars will be changing teams or what little moves some teams might be making to increase their chances of winning an NBA Championship.

Every year when Free Agency rolls around, there are rules in place about when teams can and players can start negotiating with each other.

When does NBA Free Agency start?

NBA Free Agency begins on the very last day of the month, June 30.

At 6:00 p.m. Eastern time, teams and players can officially negotiate contracts with one another. When deals are made at this time, it is only a mutual agreement between both the player and the team. However, players are not allowed to officially sign their new contracts until July 6 at 12:01 p.m. Eastern time.

Any contract that is agreed upon during that time period is only a verbal agreement. Either party involved in the deal has the option to back out of the deal during that time frame.

There are some situations where teams and players are in contract talks before the eligible start time. This is considered to be tampering and any teams that are caught tampering will be punished. Which is usually losing some sort of draft compensation.

NBA Free Agency is approaching us very shortly so make sure you keep your Twitter notifications turned on to see how the landscape of the NBA changes.
