Ranking NFL coaches by hotness of their seat

26. Zac Taylor – Cincinnati Bengals
A lot of us were wrong about Zac Taylor. He was the butt of many jokes about how coaches were getting top jobs just from talking to Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay. Taylor had a rough start in Cincinnati. It was so rough, he still has a losing record overall in the regular season. A two and four-win season will do that to you.
Then, despite almost everyone thinking another coach would get the chance to lead Joe Burrow, Taylor led the Bengals all the way to the Super Bowl. He lost to the Rams, but it showed he was able to get the best out of this team. Since then, Ja’Marr Chase became one of the best wide receivers in football, the offense can beat just about anyone, and the Bengals are a premier team in the AFC.
Maybe some would see this differently if this wasn’t the Bengals, but they never fire coaches as it is. Marvin Lewis survived for years with mediocre results. Now they have a team that can actually win it all, something that’s never happened in Cincinnati.
Burrow likes his head coach, and the team seems to listen to his lead. He was able to win big games in the postseason, beating the Chiefs, Bills, and Titans on the road over the last two seasons. Nobody expected the Bengals to do this already. Taylor deserves some credit for that.
