Rickie Fowler’s current No. 46 OWGR ranking has placed him well within the Top 50 threshold needed to qualify for The Open. He’s also one to watch at the Memorial golf tournament.

Entering the Charles Schwab Challenge at the Colonial Country Club, Rickie Fowler needed an excellent showing in order to improve his chances of making it to the final major of the year.

He did just that at the Charles Schwab Challenge, finishing in the Top 6 with 67 on the final day and ending at 5-under. It was enough to boost him back into the Top 50 again. Starting out at Memorial, he’s ranked at No. 46.

It’s his best standing in three years, but it’s not just that. Fowler has been displaying excellent form all season long. Although he didn’t make the cut at the PGA Championship, he made several others, including ending up in the T14 at the Wells Fargo event, T15 at RBC, T13 at The Players, T20 at Genesis, and five T10’s this season, including at the Phoenix Open in February. Out of 16 cuts this season, he’s made 14 of them.

Rickie Fowler’s demonstrated a streak of consistency that should give him a boost of confidence at the Muirfield Village Golf Course, but more importantly, The Open Championship at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club next month.

The five-time PGA Tour winner may have missed the first major, The Masters, for the third year in a row, but he’s made the other three, his best showing in three years. This is quite an accomplishment considering that he missed the U.S. Open and The Open majors last year as well. The fact that he’s back playing most of them again illustrates his improved form more than anything else.

The clutch game on display from Fowler at Colonial gave us exciting stuff.

The last time that Rickie Fowler competed at all four majors was in 2020, which coincides with the last time that the 34-year-old was ranked in the T50.

The charismatic, popular golfer is currently on hand at the Memorial golf tournament at Muirfield. The Open Championship will take place at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club beginning July 20.
