Gabe Vincent says the Heat don’t care about respect: ‘We just want to get 4 wins’

After the Miami Heat took Game 2 of the NBA Finals, Gabe Vincent said that the team isn’t looking to get respect, they just want to get four wins.

The Miami Heat have shocked the NBA throughout these playoffs. They made it out of the play-in tournament as the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference, upset the No. 1-seeded Milwaukee Bucks, defeated the New York Knicks in the second round, and prevented the Boston Celtics from overcoming an 0-3 deficit in the Eastern Conference Finals with a dominant Game 7 win. They became just the second No. 8 seed to make the NBA Finals.

Miami lost Game 1 to the Denver Nuggets, and the series was declared over by some. But in Game 2, the Heat bounced back and picked up the 111-108 victory. Gabe Vincent led the way for the Heat, scoring 23 points.

After the game, Vincent joined the NBA TV broadcast, and Shaquille O’Neal asked if the team was upset about getting the respect they feel they deserve. Vincent responded by saying that the Heat don’t care.

“I speak for my whole team when I say we don’t give a damn,” said Vincent. “We just want to get four wins. We don’t give a damn about none of that other stuff.”

As outlined earlier, the Heat have silenced their critics throughout this entire run in the postseason. They weren’t given a chance against any of their opponents throughout the playoff run. Who could forget the three-percent chance that ESPN analytics gave the Heat to beat the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals?

Vincent made 8-of-12 shots from the field while making 4-of-6 shots from behind the arc. He was one of three Heat starters to score over 20 points, the other two being Jimmy Butler (21) and Bam Adebayo (21).

The Nuggets did give the Heat a scare late, pulling to within three points, and Jamal Murray’s three-point attempt at the buzzer hit the rim. Whatever the case, the Heat walked out of Ball Arena on Sunday night victorious.

Now, the Heat bring the series to Miami, where they have only lost two games this entire playoff run. Can Miami take a series lead on Wednesday night after Game 3? Or will the Nuggets respond with a huge game?
