When is the Canadian Grand Prix in 2023? The F1 schedule heads to Montreal this week with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen looking to defend his title.

Formula 1 is back in North America with the Canadian Grand Prix next on tap!

Max Verstappen ha dominated for Red Bull over the last three races with victories at the Spanish Grand Prix, Monaco Grand Prix and Miami Grand Prix.

However, Mercedes had a resurgent performance in Barcelona with podium finishes for Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. Could this be the start of a new phase of the Red Bull-Mercedes rivalry?

When is the Canadian Grand Prix 2023?

The Canadian Grand Prix is scheduled for Sunday, June 18 at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.

  • FP1: Friday, June 16 at 1:30 p.m. ET
  • FP2: Friday, June 16 at 5:00 p.m. ET
  • FP3: Saturday, June 17 at 12:30 p.m. ET
  • Qualifying: Saturday, June 17 at 4:00 p.m. ET
  • Race: Sunday, June 18 at 2:00 p.m. ET

Could Canada fires impact the Canadian Grand Prix?

Air quality in Canada and the northeastern United States has been heavily impacted by the raging wildfires in Quebec.

However, Formula 1 officials have reassured teams, drivers and fans that the Canadian Grand Prix is “not at risk,” per Andrew Benson of BBC.

Who won the 2022 Canadian Grand Prix?

Verstappen won the 2022 Canadian Grand Prix after taking pole position in the rain.

Carlos Sainz Jr. took second place for Ferrari with Hamilton claiming the third step on the podium for Mercedes. Sainz also claimed fastest lap.

Sergio Perez of Red Bull, Mick Schumacher of Haas and Yuki Tsunoda of AlphaTauri had to retire while Ferarri’s Charles Leclerc vaulted up the standings to fifth after starting 19th.

The victory helped widen Verstappen’s lead atop the driver’s championship standings.

Verstappen once again hold command of the championship race. He has 170 points, sitting well ahead of Perez with 117.
